এই ধাপটা বিরক্তিকর, আর এইজন্যই বেশিরভাগ মানুষ এখানে আটকে যান। একবার বসে কাগজগুলো গুছিয়ে ফেললে পরের প্রতিটা ধাপে সময় বাঁচে: বিও অ্যাকাউন্ট খুলতে দুই দিন লাগে দুই সপ্তাহের বদলে, আর ব্রোকারের অফিসে দুইবার যেতে হয় না।
বাংলাদেশে শেয়ারবাজারে ঢুকতে যা যা লাগে তা আসলে খুব বেশি না। বেশিরভাগ মানুষের কাছে অর্ধেকটা এমনিতেই আছে।
এক নজরে

This step is boring, which is exactly why most people stall here. Sit down once and sort the paperwork out, and every later step gets shorter: a BO account takes two days instead of two weeks, and you do not make a second trip to the broker's office.
What Bangladesh actually asks for is not much. Most people already have half of it.

নমিনি: পাঁচ মিনিট, যা সবচেয়ে বেশি বাদ পড়ে
নমিনি হলো সেই মানুষ, যার কাছে আপনি না থাকলে আপনার শেয়ারগুলো যাবে। বিও ফর্মে এই ঘরটা আছে, আর অনেকেই তাড়াহুড়ায় খালি রেখে দেন বা "পরে দেব" বলেন।
খালি থাকলে কী হয়, সেটা জানা দরকার। শেয়ারগুলো আটকে যায়, আর পরিবারকে উত্তরাধিকার সনদ নিয়ে আদালতে যেতে হয়। এতে মাস লাগে, টাকা লাগে, আর যে সময়টায় পরিবারের সবচেয়ে বেশি টাকা দরকার ঠিক সেই সময়েই টাকাটা পাওয়া যায় না।
টিআইএন: বাধ্যতামূলক নয়, কিন্তু সস্তা
বিও অ্যাকাউন্ট খুলতে টিআইএন লাগে না। কিন্তু ডিভিডেন্ড থেকে কর কাটার সময় টিআইএন থাকলে কম কাটে, না থাকলে বেশি। পার্থক্যটা সাধারণত দশ শতাংশ বনাম পনেরো শতাংশের মতো, আর হার সময়ে সময়ে বদলায়।
টিআইএন নেওয়া অনলাইনে বিনামূল্যে, এনবিআরের সাইট থেকে, আর এক দিনের কাজ। মনে রাখবেন, টিআইএন থাকা মানে রিটার্ন জমা দেওয়ার দায়িত্বও আসা, আর সেটা আলাদা একটা কাজ।

The nominee: five minutes, most often skipped
A nominee is the person your shares go to if you are not there. The BO form has a box for it, and plenty of people leave it blank in a hurry or say they will do it later.
It is worth knowing what blank means. The shares are frozen, and the family has to go to court for a succession certificate. That takes months and money, in exactly the period when the family most needs the money and cannot reach it.
TIN: not compulsory, and cheap
You do not need a TIN to open a BO account. You do need one to have less tax withheld from dividends: the difference is usually something like ten percent against fifteen, and the rates change from time to time.
Getting a TIN is free, online, from the NBR site, and takes a day. Do remember that having one brings the duty to file a return, which is a separate job.

Twenty minutes now, useful for the rest of your life. Photograph or scan everything into one place, on the phone or in a drive. Saying "I did not bring a copy of my NID" while sitting in a broker's office is what those twenty minutes prevent.
